Giving Mollom a try
*UPDATE March 2016: After almost three years of good service, a couple of weeks ago Mollom started to give timeouts and API errors to my site. The support gave me cold shoulder and, as a result, I removed Mollom from my site. I also asked them to remove my account. The support I got was terrible and they kept saying the service is working, even though it wasn't. At this time, I cannot recommend Mollom to anyone and urge you to look for other means of spam filtering/blocking.* After long time of contemplating I decided to try Mollom to replace the late and now broken TypePad AntiSpam. T...
Is Facebook charging you for sending messages?
OMG! Panic! Mayday! A big Finnish news outlet Kauppalehti decided to try and cause fire and mayhem by telling that Facebook is starting to charge it's users for sending messages. Reportedly this is true. To a point. Actually Facebook is testing a system where they will charge people for messaging to those who aren't their friends. And even this isn't the whole truth. Messages that might be spam and aren't coming from your friends do come through to your Facebook account. Accurately speaking they don't land in your Facebook inbox and you won't be notified of them. They go to your O...
So very Luvly Marketplace
Have you heard of Luvly Marketplace? It's a new place to buy and sell quality design resources. Luvly Marketplace is filled with clip art, fonts, printables, business cards and much more. Some not-too-shabby freebies too. The site itself is very lovely (or luvly) and simple. Easy on the eye. A few weeks back I was contacted by the founder of the marketplace on Etsy and invited to come and sell my digital goods. At the time I was a tad busy, but today I finally uploaded Whimsical Heart Clipart as my first item on Luvly. The Marketplace allows the seller to add multiple images to t...
3 ways your blog fails
Is your blog built for success or does it fail terribly? Sure there's always someone who thinks your blog is awful, for a reason or another. Often the reasons are very subjective and you can discard them. However your blog may also fail in more general ways. When it does, the readers will scatter before you notice. If any of the following apply to your blog you need to fix it. Right now. The blog looks bad and is hard to use The design of your blog may seem like a minor detail of it. I mean, content is the king, the queen and everything in between. The content, king, queen or what ev...
City
As usual, he was busy. At morning he would rush to the work without seeing or hearing anything around. At work he would make sure everyone saw how useful he was. And after the work he would rush back home, have dinner with the family and sit then down in front of the television to read something. This time he stopped in the middle of the crowd. Everyone around him rushing from somewhere to somewhere else. They were on the way, no person was here. He looked up, the buildings standing tall above them. He imagined people like him in the offices. Wearing something appropriate, suits and dresse...
Forget information, provide entertainment
What does Justin Bieber, Grumpy Cat and fashion blogs have in common? Yes, many things, but one most of all: They all provide entertainment. Usually the so called social media experts and content marketing professionals keep repeating: "If you want to succeed, provide information. If you want to succeed, provide help. If you want to succeed, provide something useful." It might be the case sometimes, yet it's also very much untrue. The real way to gain loads of Twitter followers, get people to like your page on Facebook and keep them coming to your blog is through entertainment. Bei...
Darkness
First it's like going blind all of a sudden. There's nothing there, eyes are open, but it's as if they were closed. Only those flashes of light, colored spots floating everywhere. Then the shapes start to show. Shapes and all the smallest sources of light. I stand in the dark, waiting for my eyes to get used to it. It takes only a moment. Suddenly I see all the creatures of night. Somewhere I hear a lonely fox barking. It sounds like a high pitched dog bark recorded and played backwards. Moon appears in between the clouds, scaring the creatures of night away. It winks at me, I wink bac...
