Automating things with IFTTT
I may be a bit late for the party, but I have just found the joys of IFTTT. Sure I had heard about the service before, stumbled upon the site too, but never done anything with it. Today my curiosity took over and I decided to create an account and check this thing out. It looks promising. IFTTT is like any of those automation tools there used to be and much more. With it you can automate your blog posts to be shared around your social media accounts, the iOS photos to be uploaded to for instance your Dropbox on the fly, emails to be sent when someone shares a photo on Instagram (you old...

What not to do with your newsletter
Email newsletters are quite a big thing. Yes, they are. You might think they would've died due to all the blogging and social media and whatnot. But in reality newsletters have gotten perhaps bigger due to all these "new" things. Being delivered straight to the recipients inbox without commitment of being a "friend" or a "follower", newsletters are an easy way to reach those who are drowning to all the information everywhere else. At least it's easy, if you are the subscriber. You can unsubscribe any time (read more below), you can trash the email without reading it, you can read it later an...
Why high bounce rate doesn't mean your site is in trouble
Bounce rate is one of those parts of website analytics that is most often misinterpreted. Those who don't understand it tend to think high bounce rate always means a website is in trouble and low means it's doing great. They have no clue how people function and how web works. Additionally bounce rate as a term is usually misunderstood. Therefore you are likely to find lots of information on how it's time to panic if your bounce rate is high and how to reduce it right now. How your website is too ugly or your content sucks. This might be the case, but there's much more to bounce rate than m...
10 misconceptions about social media and marketing
1. Social media marketing is free There's no free marketing. Even though many social media platforms are free or enable free usage, marketing with and in social media isn't free. Using different social media platforms effectively for marketing efforts takes time, skill and often other resources. In an organization you must either hire new people to do the social media marketing or to train the current employees and divide their time with or move them completely to social media marketing. For personal marketing or small business marketing you must at least give lots of your own time to the...
Life as viewed by a short person
I'm short. Just a tad over one and a half meter, that's about 5 feet. When I hear tall people complaining about being tall I want to punch them in face. If I wasn't too short to be able to do that, that is. Tall people look so grand and awesome to me. Like some fantastic fairytale creatures. How I wish I had long legs! Being a shorty isn't always a total misery, but it comes with interesting side effects. When I was a teen the mean kids called me (amongst other things) a fire extinguisher. It wasn't meant to be a cute pet name, trust me. I also learned to hate all the group sports, w...
