Bastet Hazelnut - Fashion and lifestyle blog about Second Life

Kis Kis, the store you used to know as NUT, has now a logo. Well, in a way it already had a logo. I had already made the basic logo (the text that says Kis Kis), but now I made one for search and to be used at the store. I wanted the new logo to be colorful, unique and to fit my image of handmade goods. Something that would pop up if one was doing the search and checking out the search images.

I consulted my friends at plurk and with their help (thank you all!) this is how the final logo turned out to be:

Kis Kis, the logo

You can see this logo also on the outer wall of Kis Kis at Starlust and hopefully soon on the search results. What do you think?

Lately I've felt I should make some changes. The sales of my store have been low (even worse than usual) and there was an incident considering the name of the store. Because I don't want to be mixed with an unpleasant person I decided it is time to change the name and do some rebranding. In order to create some room for new items (such as the skins I've been making) I'm working on getting a bigger store with more prims. To help my rebranding efforts I'm creating a little garden to my home. Plan is to use it as a background for new ads.

(More and credits in the full post.)

At the moment the garden looks like in these pictures. There may or may not be changes to it in time, but I'm rather happy with how my little piece of paradise looks like. There's lots of my own creations there. Some of them aren't for sale yet, but no worries, I will release them soon enough. See the list below the pics for for details of where the stuff in my garden are from. Remember to check the stores on the SLurls list. If a store is not on it, I haven't found it inworld. If there are mistakes on the list, please let me know.

When I first joined Second Life I didn't use much time with thinking what I should be called. I didn't think I'd stay that long. And when I got hooked up, it didn't feel right to make a new avatar, so Bastet stuck. And it is a bit of a joke, cause my friends have been calling me a Webgoddess for a very long time and cause I was sort of half raised by a cat (at least he tried very hard).

I've been struggling to work out a new logo for a month or so. Finally I decided to discard all the old ideas, get a new font and google around a little bit for inspiration. This is when I stumbled upon the fact that Nut, like Bastet (or Bast), is an Egyptian goddess. Her name translates to night and she was originally the goddess of the nighttime sky. The rest was easy.

The new logo is all black and white. It's simple, cause that's how I like it to be. Representing the Egyptian theme, there's a little star for the nighttime sky. As I pointed out on my previous post, I'm working on new posters and vendors. You can still find the old logo in my store and on the search, but this new one will be there soon.

Last night I went to to seek some inspiration for my fashion posts. I wanted to find something casual, but stylish. Something I would wear RL too. Result of my search was this simple (and not too expensive either) denim skirt. To complete the style I matched it with some casual style from Ohmai, simple hairdo from lamb and a pair of pumps from ETD. Et voilà! Simply stylish look from daydreams about sexy secretary types.

Sometimes the inspiration just takes a vacation. And it gets really stubborn. It can be lured and persuaded, forced and threatened, or even tricked, but it doesn't just seem to want to come back. Maybe it's the way of the brain to tell: "I need a break." These inspirational blockages usually come along the times when I'm the most busy. When things in RL and things in SL get a little bit too hectic.

Even if it is really frustrating, the only way to make these moments better is to lean back and wait. Wait for the inspiration to come back on it's own.
