Bastet Hazelnut - Fashion and lifestyle blog about Second Life

You know that thing when a girl or a woman is really dressed up and they say she's "dolled up"? I've always found it somehow undermining, unpleasant thing to say. Calling a girl or a woman a doll is to me a way to put them down. I know it's supposedly a compliment and cutesy thing to say. I do know it's an old way to say things, there are many old ways to say things that are now deemed bad. Women used to be dolls, or at least they were supposed to be. Dolls don't have minds of their own, dolls are controlled by someone else. Dolls are pretty and they are quiet, they don't talk back, they don't do anything unless they are made to do it.

Are you a doll, or are you in control of your own mind and body?
